Custom Shower Doors

A good shower door or enclosure will be tailored to individual requirements and the space it needs to fit. They offer great top quality style, elegance and privacy. Modern sophisticated fixtures and fittings can give complete freedom of design. The great clean lines of a shower in your bathroom can add that fantastic finishing touch.

Greatest care needs to be taken when measuring, designing and fitting your shower door to ensure and clean line and efficient enclosure. Don’t forget to consider the dam height (the distance off the floor before the door starts) when measuring up.

You need to think about if your shower door is to open inwards or outwards. This usually depends on the ergonomics of the space you are working with. Visualise how your shower will work when you are using it and how the door will move within the space. An inward opening door means less water will get into the bathroom but can be awkward.

An alternative to a door, where there is room, is to have in line and square enclosures with no door at all. These are more suitable in a wet room environment.

All custom shower doors should be made from toughened safety glass and with high quality fittings that will not rust or tarnish. The great advantage of glass shower doors is the wide range of finish effect that is available from clear, etched or tinted glass and sandblasted.

Glasstrends units are individually made to order and can be cut to any size or shape to fit, so they can fit slopping roof shapes. Applications include hinged doors, in line and square enclosures, bath and wet room screens to any size or shape.

Caring for your Glass Shower

When you stay at your favourite hotel, have you ever wondered how they keep the shower glass so clean? The chances are they use a product called Clearshield. This is the same technology used to keep the glass on skyscrapers and cruise ships sparkling and clean. Applied to your glass it will save you much elbow grease making the glass easier to clean.

Clearshield is a long lasting protective barrier which is applied to the shower glass to prevent lime scale and other residue damaging and staining the glass surface. Clearshield coated glass resists staining, is easier to clean and prevents the growth of bacteria. Your shower stays cleaner for longer by resisting hard water stains and keeping it beautiful.

Be sure to use the right cleaning materials to keep your treated glass shower in tip-top condition and do not damage the treatment. These cleaners are especially non-abrasive, disinfecting and will help to keep protect the special treatment for your shower glass.

Similar techniques can also be applied to your house windows and conservatory glass to reduce the number of times you need to wash your windows - especially in those hard to reach places.

Clearshield can be applied to your shower glass by the manufacturer or you can do it yourself. There are home DIY kits available which you can apply to clean windows to protect them.

London based, Glasstrends offers their customers the option of having their special shower glass Clearshield treated. "We recommend you use the aftercare cleaner to guarantee the sparkling finish of your glass for many years to come." Glasstrends has all the expertise to help and advise you on your shower needs.

Glasstrends manufacturers the perfect custom shower doors, and is based in Battersea, South West London.

Glasstrends celebrates 10 years business success by launching loyalty scheme

London-based Glasstrends Limited, the independent frameless glass shower manufacturer, this week celebrates 10 years of business success. To mark this milestone the company is launching a free to join loyalty scheme named the ‘Glasstrends Privilege Account’.
Exclusively for trade customers, membership of the scheme will offer numerous benefits. These will include financial credit facilities, special promotional offers and preferential delivery times.
Founded in 2000 by Andrew Long, Glasstrends has developed into a thriving company. The business works with both commercial and private clients creating bespoke frameless glass shower enclosures designed to fit into any available space. Ten years ago, the expertise required to design, manufacture and install frameless glass bathroom fittings was scarce in the UK. Having mastered the finer details of the frameless glazing trade in New Zealand, Mr Long saw a gap in the UK market and established Glasstrends in London.
Over the last few years, the company has continued to buck the current economic trend of manufacturing and distribution companies struggling to achieve growth. Managing Director Andrew Long commented; ’It’s the smaller companies in the UK, such as Glasstrends, who have the potential to make a contribution to the country’s growth and employment. It is SME’s like us that will help to bring the UK out of the economic gloom we’ve been experiencing over the last few years. We’re delighted to be celebrating our 10th anniversary at such a positive time for our business.’
During 2010, the flagship showroom in London, SW11 has undergone a full renovation. This now allows customers the opportunity to visit the company’s premises and see the Glasstrends products first- hand. Also available are products by Aquavision, Graff, Signorini, Lefroy Brooks and Vitra. Glasstrends is a distributor for CCL Wet room systems, Bette shower trays and Hansgrohe.
Today current clients include Hilton Hotels, The Four Seasons Hotel.
